Sublime peace, ecstatic joy, and thunderstruck awe: terebinth pine, patchouli, brown musk, linden blossom, honey, mallow, blood orange, heliotrope, and golden amber.

Well hello, Wind in the Willows *and* Pink Floyd? Win win! Earthy and hippie-like. I'm going to age this one I think though.

Peter Gabriel 1: Car (1977)

Got this for Christmas on CD, had meant to add it to my collection for awhile anyway.

Peter has always been so creative and artistic. This was his first solo album after leaving Genesis.

It's a solid effort, and keeps the progressive sensibility, particularly in "Moribund The Burgermeister".

He also had a smash with "Solisbury Hill" here.

Laurel Canyon: The Inside Story of Rock and Roll's Legendary Neighborhood - Michael Walker

In the Los Angeles hills, just north of Sunset Boulevard, lies the neighborhood from where some of the most successful artists / singer-songwriters of the 1960s and 1970s lived and created.

People like Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Joni Mitchell, the Mamas and the Papas, Eagles, Frank Zappa, Jim Morrison... This was the "golden age", the time of wild creativity and wonderful music.

It was an interesting, quick read. I enjoyed it because I'm of course a fan of many of these bands and artists anyway. While kind of uneven in places, and I felt could have been a bit better, I recommend it for something light and fun for fans of the same artists.

I used to be Hippie1973 originally on AOL when I first got online. I've always felt that I was a misplaced hippie (and from your interests, and even though you were born in the 60s, sounds like you're the same way). Nice to meet ya! :)

I just happened to find you because I was trying to find a picture of the back cover of Hard Labor by three dog night...you came up in the google..that back cover used to scare me so bad too...i was so afraid she'd come to life and haunt me or something, it's so eerie..i still have the album but i can't scan or anything like that on my computer...i saw you wrote...here it is...but when i clicked on it, it wouldn't let me see it...is there anyway you can put on your journal so i can download it? my name is Donna by the way...i don't have a live journal but maybe i'll start one...thanks for writing about that album...
