About This Blog :
Movies, music, pop culture. With maybe an occasional personal ramble.

This blog, though not expressly friends only, is friends only more often than not. Quite a few personal entries will be friends locked. So LJ users, if you want to be added and able to read everything, just comment or sign the guestbook to let me know you've done so.

Do know that I may not always add you back. But may be persuaded to if you're nice. And offer cookies.

I tend to like to sometimes post surveys and quizzes that I find particularly amusing. And memes are fun. Particularly when there isn't really anything interesting to write about at that moment and I want to post. I try not to get overly annoying with the quizzes though. If I do, feel free to poke me and let me know.

I tend to just be random in my posting. Nothing too heavy or overly personal, my paper journal is for that, and just for me. I may post here about news headlines that grab me, some family stuff, things I'm obsessing over at the moment, even work rants. See my LJ interests for more of my favorites and loves.

Commenting is welcome, and I do allow anonymous comments. However, anonymous comments are screened and will NOT be unscreened and show up until I approve them.

9th-Sep-2009 03:34 pm - Beatles: Rock Band has arrived.
Beatles / Let It Be?
BRB busy playing.

But I'm playing like crap because I keep getting distracted by the gorgeous graphics. It's been so much fun! I'm in Quick Play mode and just choosing songs random right now. I will be doing this in full story (career) mode though. My arm hurts! LOL!
1st-Jun-2009 02:52 pm - OMG!!!! *BOUNCES!!!!!*
Beatles / Let It Be?
The big preview of Rock Band: Beatles was today, with Paul, Ringo, Olivia and Yoko in attendance. I think Dhani was there too? I wasn't really watching. BUT!!!

Gameplay trailer is UP!

*visions of spending WAY TOO MUCH TIME playing Beatles songs on this*

The controllers/instruments are hella sweet looking, adorable plastic replicas of the band's gear. And the song list of course is stellar. I'll get the game, and pray that my GH controllers will work and be compatible with an RB game. I'll have to worry about the controllers later. ACH MEIN GOTT this is expensive!

WHY DID WE NOT WAIT though?! We just got GH World Tour for Xmas, yep, entire bundle. Game, guitar, drumset, and mic. FML.

BRB, gonna go *flail!* some more.
7th-Apr-2009 10:50 am - Beatle squee-age ahoy!
Ringo / ear phones
To be released the same day as Rock Band: The Beatles, 9-9-09:

The entire original Beatles catalog has been digitally remastered, and more liner notes, photos, limited edition embedded documentaries with each album, etc added.

OMG. O M G!!

On one hand, I say to myself, sensibly, 'Polly, you already OWN all this music. Why do you want to pay a crap ton of money on music you already own?' then on the other hand...

I'm kinda... oh I dunno... SQUEEING MY PANTS OFF HERE?!

I've been waiting for them to do something like this!!

Read more about this here.

NOW does this mean the stuff will be on iTunes?!

Hell with it. MUST possess this. IT WILL BE MINE.

Beatles / Hey Jude
Might I just reiterate if I haven't said before all these years... Side 2 of Abbey Road is the most stunning thing I've ever heard.

It's all good, wonderful. But Side 2.... *SIGH*

Scrobbling on Last.FM as I listen. Never scrobbles "Her Majesty" though because it's like eight seconds too short to take has to be 30 seconds or above. That's okay anyway... most of the time I stop after The End and just leave it at "...and in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make..." as it seems so... so... fitting that these were the last words the Beatles left us with on an album. I do like HM for a funny little diddle sometimes though.
19th-Feb-2009 09:07 am - Get Back! is coming again...
Beatles / Hey Jude
As we do every year, and brought back by popular demand, we're going to see Get Back! The Cast of Beatlemania at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts on Saturday April 4. I like to sit further back, so I'm not out for special close seats... I like the "illusion". These guys are ALWAYS so good, it's a fun show and the audience loves it.

This is something my dad and I always do together, we'll go eat some fish and chips or bangers and mash and tip back a pint at the local authentic British Pub, The Blue Anchor, and head over to Coral Springs for the show.
22nd-Jan-2009 07:12 pm - Beatles : Playing the Beatles Backwards, one fan's ultimate count down
Beatle beauty!
I have to make a post about this list but I will when I can sit down and comb through it. It's interesting to read this fan's whys and wherefores of picking and ranking the songs. I commend the effort, it's a daunting task. Stay tuned.

John / peace

Remembering John Lennon today.
6th-Sep-2008 12:20 pm - More randomness: ice cream!
John / peace

This? Is yummy.

Imagine. <-- That's the Ben and Jerry's website for this flavor, and features their peace partnerships and gives their visitors and fans the opportunity to upload their own message of peace! I love it. Click on "Individuals" to scroll through the messages.

9th-Aug-2008 10:26 am - Here comes the son....
Beatle beauty!
Why hullo thar, Dhani Harrison!

And... yes. Mom just got to the Vanity Fair supplement they do on Fashion and here he was in a nicely photographed spread, looking more like his father than his father ever did. GUH. *starts to have some impure thoughts* Click on them to see them a tad larger, babies.

These were just two of my favorites. Theyr'e all good though. That said, my scanner was acting like a bitch just now. Has been off and on since I hooked it up to Vista. *sigh* *glares*.
4th-Jul-2008 04:30 pm - Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band - Hard Rock Live - Hollywood FL - July 3 2008
Ringo / peace and luv.
Saw the All Starrs on the summer tour last night. First of all, when we got to the Hard Rock, there was a showing of all original, signed Ringo Starr artwork. We were excited to hear on the radio on the way there that he'd be doing something in the casino at 5pm and we made it in plenty of time. We got to watch him blow out the candles on his really cool birthday cake. I'll post a picture of it later when I get them all together, they need to be fixed and gone through.

Anyway, awesome as he is, he threw the peace sign, big smiles and waves as he leaves. With that we head over to the Hard Rock Cafe for some sustenance. Cheeseburgers for all! And a Long Island Iced Tea! LOL! We were even brought a piece of Ringo's birthday cake! Not everyone in the cafe, just the three of us, for we are that special. LOL! That was a fun surprise and it was delish, buttercream frosting with raspberry. Mmmmm.

Then it was time to head over to the venue for the concert.

Here's the set list and some comments as appropriate.
What goes on... )

Happy Birthday, dear Ringo. Again, it was a pleasure to celebrate it with you, even if it was three days early. And thank you for picking an INDOOR venue this time! It did rain last night so we were VERY happy it was the Hard Rock.

Happy Fourth of July!
